From April 1st<\/sup> to the 30th<\/sup>, three Moisson food banks join forces to combat hunger affecting babies and <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00c9lise Guilbault, Olivier Niquet and Marie-\u00c8ve Pich\u00e9 will raise their voices in support of the 7th<\/sup> edition of The Great Food Drive for Children<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Montreal, April 3, 2018 \u2013 <\/span><\/b>This morning, Moisson Montr\u00e9al, Moisson Rive-Sud and Moisson Estrie, launched the 7th<\/sup> edition of the annual Great Food Drive for Children campaign. Presented by Provigo and Maxi, the campaign aims to sensitize the public to the problems of food insecurity. 20,000 children up to 5 years old in Montreal, the South Shore and the Eastern Townships, experience this reality every day.\u00a0 The three Moisson food banks have set $225,000 as their fundraising objective, enabling them to continue their mission of meeting the food needs of families who can no longer provide for their very young children.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>During the campaign, Marie-\u00c8ve Pich\u00e9, the successful blogger and full-time modern mom known as Maman Caf\u00e9ine, and Olivier Niquet, the radio host of <\/span>La soir\u00e9e est (encore) jeune, <\/i>will be joining Moisson Montr\u00e9al spokeswoman \u00c9lise Guilbault in inviting the public to mobilize and to give generously to the campaign so that all children can get a healthy start in life.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>In the words of the Moisson Executive Directors:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u201cEvery year we see the same thing: donations of food targeting the specific needs of very young children are more and more rare, representing only 1% of redistributed foodstuffs. We developed The Great Food Drive for Children to meet this critical need. If food insecurity can have a serious impact on adults, it follows that the consequences to infants and young children will have a lasting impact throughout their development. We need to act so that this new generation will start its life on the right foot.\u201d said Richard D. Daneau, Executive Director of Moisson Montr\u00e9al.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Dany H\u00e9tu, Executive Director of Moisson Rive-Sud, said: \u201c For new or future parents who find themselves in a precarious financial position, finding sufficient food to feed the family can be a huge source of stress. Healthy and sufficient food is crucial to the development of children. Without it, they can experience cognitive, neurological or motor delays. The Great Food Drive for Children allows us to collaborate with the organizations that we serve in order to support families in a comforting, reliable and stable way all year long.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cAs a mother of two children, I know how much of a priority it is for young parents to be able to provide their children with healthy and balanced meals. By participating in The Great Food Drive for Children, Moisson Estrie wants to assure families in need in the Eastern Townships that they will have access to food resources so that their children will grow up healthy and that they as parents can feel secure in this knowledge. \u00a0<\/span>The donated foodstuffs will permit the Moisson food banks to continue their important mission and will enable them to offer this food to the community organizations that provide food assistance to future parents and to parents with young children.<\/span><\/p>\n
