The fundraising campaign aims to fill the void during the holidays<\/strong><\/p>\n

Montreal, July 20, 2017 \u2013 <\/strong>For the second year in a row, Moisson Montr\u00e9al launches its summer campaign, Hunger Doesn\u2019t Take a Holiday<\/em>, which will take place from July 20th<\/sup> to August 20th<\/sup> 2017, in aid of young Montrealers from 3 to 17 years old who don\u2019t have enough to eat.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Moisson Montr\u00e9al\u2019s last Hunger Count<\/em> revealed an increase of the number of requests for food assistance in the Greater Montreal. This situation is even more worrisome during July and August, when children no longer have access to meals provided by their schools, and many family support programmes are suspended. We estimate that 39,400 young Montrealers between the ages of 3 and 17 rely on some sort of food assistance. Moisson Montr\u00e9al has set itself the goal of raising $50,000 in its one-month Hunger Doesn\u2019t Take a Holiday<\/em> campaign period.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, Moisson Montr\u00e9al is providing more than 900 school children with lunches, which represents close to 39,000 meals per month\u201d, says Richard D. Daneau, Moisson Montr\u00e9al\u2019s Executive Director.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The actress and playwright Florence Longpr\u00e9, (best known for her roles in the television series \u201cLike-moi\u201d and \u201cLes pays d\u2019en haut\u201d), will once again be the spokesperson for the campaign. \u201cEvery summer, there are thousands who have to rely on some sort of food assistance\u201d she remarks. \u201cDuring the school year, many students benefit from food assistance, but these programmes are suspended during the summer holidays. Hunger however, does not disappear.\u201d She kicks off the campaign\u2019s fundraising initiatives with her video Edible Art Plate<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. \u2018\u2019\u00a0The Edible Art Plate concept is at the same time playful and evocative. We are fortunate to eat sufficiently; this is not the case for everyone. We should keep that in mind\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

In a gesture of solidarity, Moisson Estrie and Moisson Rive-Sud are joining their forces to Moisson Montr\u00e9al for the 2017 edition of the campaign Hunger doesn\u2019t take a holiday<\/em>.<\/p>\n
