Thirteen new members added to the Ambassadors Club<\/strong><\/p>\n

MONTREAL, November 11th<\/sup>, 2015<\/strong> – There was a strong feeling of solidarity all throughout Moisson Montr\u00e9al\u2019s fourth Annual Recognition Evening, as thirteen new ambassadors were named during the event at HEC\u2019s Restaurant Le Cercle. Hosted by actor and businessman Claude-Michel Bleau, this evening enabled us to recognize the contributions of 90 donors in four donation categories: Volunteering, Donated Goods and Services, Donated Foodstuffs and A1 Foodstuff Donors.<\/p>\n

This year, thirteen people were added to Moisson Montr\u00e9al\u2019s Ambassadors Club, which already comprises more than 30 members. Some of the evening\u2019s highlights: \u00c8ve-Marie Lortie receiving the \u201cSpokesperson Prize\u201d for being the godmother of our Great Food Drive for Children<\/a>; Claude Poisson, President of Operations, Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Casinos du Qu\u00e9bec, <\/em>receiving the \u201cExceptional Ambassador\u201d award for his steadfast commitment to battling food insecurity with the 4 casinos, 4 Moisson<\/a> partnership; and, Dany Michaud receiving the \u201cSpecial Homage\u201d prize for his exceptional contribution as Executive Director of Moisson Montr\u00e9al from 2011 to 2015.<\/p>\n

Richard Blain, President of the Moisson Montr\u00e9al Board of Directors, confirms that, \u201cthe organization will continue to play an important role in our society in order to address the important issues of hunger and food waste. With its many programs, innovations and future projects, Moisson Montr\u00e9al is becoming a role model for the social market economy. Consequently, donor contributions and ambassador engagement is more crucial than ever to the pursuit of our organization\u2019s mission. Thanks 140,000 times, once for each person we feed every month!\u201d<\/p>\n

Each year, the Moisson Montr\u00e9al team and its Board of Directors organize a recognition evening for their big donors, to thank them for their extraordinary long-term commitment to addressing the problem of food insecurity.<\/p>\n

According to Julie Bourbonni\u00e8re, Director of Communications, Marketing and Funding for Moisson Montr\u00e9al, the key to success is solidarity: \u201cFrom now on, closer collaboration between community organizations and local businesses will be necessary to ensure the survival of socially committed organizations. An economy based on mutual assistance is growing and Moisson Montr\u00e9al\u2019s partners offer a great role model.\u201d<\/p>\n

About Moisson Montr\u00e9al<\/strong><\/p>\n

A non-profit organization founded in 1984, Moisson Montr\u00e9al is today the largest food bank in Canada. Through its centre for collecting, sorting and distributing emergency food assistance, the organization allocates nearly 1,000 tons of food per month to close to 250 accredited community organizations on the Island of Montreal. In turn, these organizations provide food assistance to 140,000 people, including 40,000 children between the ages of 0 and 5. Moisson Montr\u00e9al receives funding and supplies mainly through donations. Its operations require the collaboration of nearly 8,000 volunteers each year and result in the redistribution of about 13 million kilos of foodstuffs, representing a total value of close to $61 million.
