The Great Food Drive for Children will continue for another week to reach its goal<\/p>\n

MONTREAL<\/span>,\u00a0April 11, 2015<\/span>\u00a0– This morning, a record number of volunteers, partners, artists, politicians and special guests attended Children’s Day, a family event during which the results of the fourth edition of the Great Food Drive for Children were announced and emergency bags for children were prepared. Jos\u00e9e Boudreault hosted this activity held at Moisson Montreal in a cheerful atmosphere, with a scavenger hunt and a playground for children.<\/p>\n

This fourth edition of the Great Food Drive for Children supported by spokespeople\u00a0Eve-Marie Lortie<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Claudia Marques<\/span>, combined three Moissons of the\u00a0Greater Montreal<\/span>\u00a0area: Moisson Montreal, Moisson Rive-Sud and the Centre de b\u00e9n\u00e9volat et moisson\u00a0Laval<\/span>. The organizers announced that\u00a0$ 170,000<\/span>\u00a0were raised this year although the campaign’s initial goal was to raise $\u00a0250,000. To ensure that 20,000 children get the help needed, the campaign has been prolonged for another week.<\/p>\n

“Our goal was to raise\u00a0$ 250,000<\/span>, because the needs are big. We may not have reached the goal, but we’re not giving up. People can continue to give on granderecolte.com and via SMS by texting the word UNITED to 20222. Today, we are here to prepare 1,500 emergency bags for toddlers. These bags will be sent to community organizations in theGreater Montreal<\/span>\u00a0area offering assistance programs to families with young children and future moms!” explainedDany Michaud<\/span>, Executive Director of Moisson Montreal.<\/p>\n

With a portion of the funds raised, Moisson Montreal purchased large quantities of baby products (diapers, infant formula, baby cereals and purees). These products, as well as those received during the Great Food Drive for Children, were packed by volunteers and will soon be routed to\u00a0Montreal<\/span>\u00a0organizations. Similarly, goods will be distributed in\u00a0Laval<\/span>\u00a0and on the South Shore, in order to reach all toddlers for whom the Great Food Drive for Children exists.<\/p>\n
