For the 12th year, Moisson Montreal and Sodexo are working together to provide more than 40,000 lunches to more than 1,200 kids from 13 day camps coordinated by community organizations accredited to Moisson Montreal.<\/p>\n

Despite evidence that hunger causes stunted growth, increases the chances of illness and reduces school performance, it is more than two million children in Canada live who in families who are forced to skip meals or eat less because of financial constraints. The number of Canadians who are at risk of starvation is estimated at 5.5 million and 40% of food bank recipients are children in Canada. To alleviate some of this great problem, the\u00a0Feeding Our Future<\/strong>\u00a0program was introduced by the\u00a0Sodexo Foundation<\/a>\u00a0in order to offer free lunches during the summer for children who receive subsidized meals during the school year. This program is active in nine Canadian cities, including Vancouver, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Oakville, Montreal and Halifax. Last year, more than 137,000 meals were distributed throughout the country.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the generosity and commitment of Sodexo, it becomes possible to provide relief not only to Montreal families, but also to food banks who face a greater demand during the summer months, mainly due to the interruption of meal programs offered in schools.<\/p>\n

Moisson Montr\u00e9al is proud to take an active part in the Feed our Future program by ensuring the recruitment of the participating day camps and by doing the daily delivery of the lunches.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
